Artist's Comments
A personal piece with a multitude of possible meanings.
Those of you who remember an older painting of mine called "To The Gods" - a portrait of me sitting on a crumbling rock in the middle of a raging ocean, red ribbons flying skywards - will realise that this is its (albeit unintentional) counterpart.
The words that accompanied that painting were, "To you I give my wings, because I have a reason to stay..."
The words accompanying this one are:
"Can these wings make me fly?" he asked.
"No," she said, "but happiness can."
I never found out if he fell.
