Silent waters run deep...

An original concept of the character of Rahab from the novel Convivium.
[ Please check this journal entry for details. ]

I wish there were a passage in the book solely dedicated to him, but there isn't. He is a key-player who remains in the shadows, always dangerously present, but never in your face.

I started his painting many times, but never felt satisfied with how it was turning out. Also, I couldn't shake the image I had in my head of using model JR Gallison for this, and that made it twice as hard. He just fit the bill, but it also felt like I was over-stepping my mark - personal reasons here, none for you to know. In the end, I had to give in.

Photoshop CS
+ close-ups: one | two | three
+ appearance based on the description found in Convivium & of course JR Gallison
+ references used for the face, and my winter coat helped with the embroidery design
+ now, that embroidery was killing me...

Great expression, mood and painting!! It makes me want to read the book just by looking at a single character.
